Ultra musing
Something I always wonder about... regarding Ultraman, Jack, Ace.. and I guess also to Leo, 80 whoever else I missed. When they took on a human host, do they... after some time, merged souls with their human hosts? Cos while I wasn't familiar with the original series as well as Kaerikatta and the other showa ultra series, I am familiar with Ace's story. And I do remember that Ace retained a separate conciousness from Seiji and Yuko. While I do need to rewatch Ace (and I do have somewhere to watch the raw) I did kinda have that impression that after Yuko left, Ace and Seiji didn't feel so separated as much. Like they became more of a single entity. But then this came from a child's memory so it might not add any weight.
I mean, as humans... Hayata, Gou and Seiji do have limited life spans. But once merged with their fellow Ultrans, they should no longer really still completely be humans... right? Or do they still die (their human bodies I mean, once they reached their supposed natural time of deaths)... and their respective Ultrans continuing to retain their human hosts appearances and memories and accepting them as their own?
It's one of those days when I had nothing else to do and brain goes overdrive.
Cos... I do remember Taro's series a bit... since back then I did continue watching the series; and tv back then being cool and aired Taro right after Ace ended.
I remembered Kotaro separating with Taro at the end of the series (I have vague memories of Taro giving Kotarou a choice tho, and Kotarou being divided about continuing living as an Ultra or return to his normal life and stay with his girl. Cos I went looking at the wiki and they worded this part a bit oddly so I sorta doubted my memory atm) so there's that. Also, Zero din keep Ran and Taiga as his host for long... and Ran din seemed to appear to not gaining any other extra Ultra abilities aside from his life being restored (same as Kotaro).
I started thinking about this again, since rewatching the series from the ZAP Spacy timeline... and technically it should be thousands of years past since Mebius time on Earth... and yet Ace, Man (and the others might be too) still retained their human host forms (and they still spoke with their hosts voice till now). And yeah, I do stress on the voice... since Ace's original voice WAS different than Seiji's. And during the last episode, Ace did spoke using his original voice (his future appearance mostly had him voiced by Takamine-san) but his words had been Seiji's.
So I do wonder about the Ultra Brothers (w/ exception of Zoffy, Mebius, Taro, Seven... Astra?) situation with their human hosts cos stuff gets complicated the more you think about it. Also, there's that alternate timeline in 8 Ultra brothers where Seiji, Shin and Gou's alternate reality selves still have connections with their very much Ultran other selves. Heck, even Seven had his own human alternate self there who is still named Moroboshi Dan and is not Satsuma Jiro's alternate reality self. (Or maybe he could be.)
In a way, the other Light Ultramen (Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Agul, Cosmos... Nexus?) were simpler. I mean, Daigo was able to become light due to him being descendants of people who were granted those genetic abilities to become light (and fused with the giant Ultra statues) and later on you learn that there are other people with the same ability as Daigo. And Final Odyssey sorta imply that Daigo was really is the original (Dark) Tiga who gained a new light and later reborn as a human--thus add more weight on Yuzare's words about Daigo being light AS WELL AS human, so it's hard to NOT think Daigo and Tiga as a different entity. Same as with Asuka. (But Asuka didn't get that kind of past life connection thingie yet there was that part where Daigo noticed Asuka on his way to Mars, and that time he already knew that Asuka would be his successor in protecting Earth. Since Daigo's spark lens is no more. Not sure abt his Dark Lens tho.) Cosmos is easy... since their situation is already put very clearly in the series. Gaia and Agul too, and Nexus/Noa also was not that much complicated. At least, compared to the M78 Ultrans.
