Title: Jealousy
Series: 빈센조/Vincenzo
Characters: Jang Junwoo/Jang Hanseok/Henry Jang, Vincenzo Cassano/Park Joohyung, Hong Cha-young
Summary: He was the one who first set his eyes on her and decided to pursue her romantically. So why was THAT person the one getting her attention instead?
---------------------------------------------------
He happened to meet her by chance, at first. Because he ended up returning home after receiving news that his father was hospitalized. Which gave him a pretty neat excuse to take over his father's company, since his father wouldn't have even considered him as the next chairman had his father was in good health. Since he didn't want such a 'mentally unsound' person like him to take over his company.
Well, tough luck. His father won't have anything to say against him taking over the company when he's dead.
It was around THIS time that he met Cha-young for the first time. Kinda. Since Hong Cha-young was working at Wusang and she ended up handling the legal matters after his father's death.
Though, as much as he had wanted to take over the Babel Group, he disliked the thought that he would've to spend most of his time dealing with some old board members when he could be spending the time better by trying to woo one of the most beautiful lawyers in Wusang.
So he made Hanseo become his puppet, while he dealt with the actual management of the company from the shadows. The anonymity of him being the true chairman of the Babel Group would've allowed him the chance to get into Wusang as a law intern. And he planned to make it that he'd end up working together with Cha-young under the guise that no else but her was good enough to teach him. Which shouldn't be difficult to do since Hong Cha-young was an ace lawyer in Wusang currently.
He'd joined Wusang using a false name. Because it would have been very suspicious if he just happened to bear the same name as the oldest son of the late Chairman Jang. These lots wouldn't have suspected that Jang Junwoo was actually the real new chairman of Babel Group, Jang Hanseok.
And it turned out exactly as he planned. His personal plan to want to approach Cha-young closely and intimately. He will get himself close to her as a friend and then... she should of course start falling in love with him as the two of them continued to spend the day working together in the same office and on the same assignment.
And what should happen afterwards would be very obvious, right?

People say that you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch, and that proverb was truly accurate. He shouldn't have thought too far ahead.
While he now was placed where he wanted to be, there wasn't much progress in term of the relationship between him and Miss Hong Cha-young. Rather than become the handsome intern with whom his senior can't help falling in love with, he ended up becoming that cute intern that Miss Hong can't help but dote over him. As a little brother.
It annoyed him a bit. At first, he adopted the cute, innocent and kind persona to get Miss Hong to like him, but then as time went on he ended up giving off this naive, bumbling boy from New York image to everyone that he couldn't quite shake off so easily. While he couldn't care much about what his co-workers think of him, Miss Hong's opinion about him mattered a lot. And her feelings for him was all that was important to him.
Just that it wasn't quite what he wanted. The result that he sought.
While Miss Hong had grown to depend on him a lot with work, she still saw him as nothing more than a little brother who clung to her for guidance, before he could learn the ropes to become a proper competent lawyer. And there's nothing he could do to change her mind about that assumption.
Well, he could always try to change how he acts in front of her to make her see him differently—but a part of him didn't want to risk her getting put off by him if he changed so suddenly. He's been watching her all these times after all. To find out the kind of things that she liked or hated... the things she despised seeing and the kind of things that could draw her interest to them. He's been observing her all these times; to uncover her true self, what her personality was underneath all of the illusions and facade that she may have projected to others. He might as well start claiming that he knew Miss Hong better than herself!
But why wouldn't Miss Hong see him as a man?

That man Vincenzo had appeared without warning. All because that person happened to be involved with the owner of the property that he wanted to claim for himself. And that led to that man coming into Miss Hong Cha-young's attention.
All this was because Miss Hong's father happened to be involved with the Geumga Plaza business and that Vincenzo wanted to get back the property that they've snatched away.
Miss Hong wouldn't stop talking about that man ever since he appeared. While half the reason was that she was worried about her father, it still bothered him that Miss Hong continued to think about Vincenzo a lot more than she would ever think about him outside of work. She probably had been seeing the guy more often than him lately, if he assumed that the Vincenzo guy was now working together with Miss Hong's father.
That thought made him very restless.
Things later got worse when Miss Hong's father died. It made Miss Hong decide to quit working for Wusang altogether. And nothing he could say would change her decision to leave the place.
Also...
How dare she give back all the gifts he gave her, disguised as the rewards she received all these times for being such a successful lawyer in Wusang? Really?

If not because of Miss Hong, he wouldn't have wanted to step into the Jipuragi office. But since Miss Hong was there, it didn't feel so bad for him to go there to see her.
He wanted to show her that he was a different man now compared to that old him. That was the reason why he told Hanseo to get Chief Han to elevate his status from an intern to a partner. Because it wasn't fun not having Miss Hong at Wusang. And he needed an excuse to meet Miss Hong and not have her still see him as just an intern at Wusang.
But Miss Hong wasn't even elated at the news. But at least she got the message and wanted to celebrate his promotion. Which was good. Even if that meant having to celebrate the occasion with some spicy Jjampong. Not that he didn't like eating spicy food, but his tolerance to it wasn't that high. Which was why he was always annoyed whenever Hanseo used that old spicy food punishment routine whenever he needed to pressure the board members during the board meeting into doing something.
Since that Hanseo was so PROUD at the fact that he had a high tolerance to spicy food. Unlike him. Well, it's not his fault that he had spent most of his life in the United States so he never got used to eating a lot of spicy food growing up.
But that remind him...
Junwoo smiled towards Vincenzo, who just a moment ago said aloud that he wouldn't be joining them for some Jjampong. Which was just PERFECT!
"People from Italy can't eat spicy food," he said with glee. Junwoo turned towards Miss Hong. "Let's go!"
"I guess he can't handle it..."
Junwoo had to control himself not to laugh out loud at this small victory as he turned towards the exit. Suddenly Vincenzo slammed the bunch of papers he was holding onto the other stack of documents on the table.
"Italian people DO love spicy chilli!" snapped the guy at him. Guess someone's ego was pricked.

As Junwoo took the first bite of his spicy Jjampong, the spiciness of the noodles immediately hit his senses.
"Ah! That hits the spot!" exclaimed Miss Hong as Junwoo gasped aloud. He sneaked a peek towards Vincenzo opposite him as the man also started on his bowl of Jjampong. The man started to loosen his tie as he tried to cover the fact that the noodles were quite spicy for him.
"What kind of lawsuits did you handle in Italy?"
Junwoo started another idle talk as he tried to lower Vincenzo's guard on him. He might as well try to get some information out of the guy. And this was also his own strategy as he tried to stall from eating his Jjampong too quickly. He could already see that Vincenzo has started to struggle with himself as he tried to eat AND talk about the work he used to do. He continued to stir his bowl of Jjampong without making a conscious effort to eat it himself.
Miss Hong suddenly let out a loud groan. "No more shoptalk! This won't do, want more chilli oil?"
Shit! He forgot that Miss Hong disliked people for talking while they were eating but before he could stop her, Miss Hong already poured more chilli oil onto his bowl AS WELL AS Vincenzo's. Well, as long as he's not the only one who had his Jjampong's spicy level increased.
Junwoo poured some more water into his glass as Vincenzo took the glass and drank the water himself. If Miss Hong wasn't around he would've cursed the guy aloud! The nerve! He took another glass and poured himself another glass of water.
"It's too spicy for you, you should get something else..."
"This is delicious!"
Junwoo resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the guy. "Is that so?" he asked as he drank some water to wash away the burning sensation inside his mouth. There's no way that he's gonna lose to this guy!

"Goodness!" chided Miss Hong as she walked out of the restaurant after settling the bills at the counter.
Junwoo turned his eyes towards her in the middle of emptying another carton of juice to ease the burning sensation inside of his mouth.
In the end, neither of them won the battle of wills. The true victor... as usual was Miss Hong, who was always the spice maniac between the three of them. Yet, he couldn't quite call Vincenzo the loser either. Because as much as the overly spicy Jjampong was too much for the Korean-Italian guy to handle in one sitting, Vincenzo still managed to eat quite an amount before Miss Hong stopped him for his own good. And as much as he hated it, he couldn't even say that he fared any better than the guy.
"You two looked like hell from trying to show off."
Miss Hong's word stung him a bit so he stood up to suggest that they have another round at it but Miss Hong immediately told him off. He thought that Miss Hong could at least take his side. So that sucked.
But at least his hiccups were almost gone by now so that's at least a small victory for him. Because Vincenzo over at the other side still looked as if he was about to collapse any time soon.
Yet this small victory didn't even make him feel better.
Because Miss Hong still was more concerned about that Vincenzo than him! And the guy wasn’t even trying to get her attention!
He didn't want to admit that he was jealous but he was. What was so good about that Vincenzo? He couldn't even tolerate eating spicy food! Was he even a Korean person?
When it comes to manliness and appearances, he was much more handsome and manly than that guy! When it comes to their height differences, he was much taller than Vincenzo! And he knows that he should be much wealthier than the guy!
So why was Miss Hong more concerned about Vincenzo than him?
Miss Hong put away her phone before turning towards them. "We should get back to the plaza now," she said to Vincenzo as Junwoo turned his attention towards her.
"Did something happen?"
"Go home. Call me if you need help—"
Miss Hong then started to gently help Vincenzo up and started walking away together to get the man home, ignoring him altogether. Junwoo couldn't even muster any word to stop them from leaving.
That hurt his feelings a bit. (He wanted to be held close by Miss Hong like that!)

The first time he ever went out with Miss Hong for some Jjampong last time, his outcome was somewhat similar to what happened to Vincenzo. Back then, his response to trying to eat Jjampong for the first time ended up with him getting hiccups for hours! He even ended up vomiting a bit, and some of the soup went up into his nose. That was an experience he didn't want to feel again anymore.
But back then, Miss Hong wasn't as gentle to him as she did with Vincenzo. On the contrary, she actually laughed and teased him for not being able to tolerate even a normal spicy level for a bowl of Jjampong.
In a way, he couldn't help finding this situation unfair.

Junwoo continued watching Miss Hong and Vincenzo walking away from him with envy. He didn't like this.
He didn’t like this at all!
