I hadn't been aware that there was a Chinese adaptation of the novel and seriously I'm surprised that this movie somehow slipped my radar lol. But since I was rewatching Perfect Number, I ended up finding out about this movie.

Haha... after so long I ended up rewatching this old thing, but this time a bit more properly than before. For someone familiar with the Tantei Galileo series, it's hard to not watch this movie and see how the Korean adaptation would adapt the novel compared to the Japanese liveaction version.

Well, to sum it simply... this Korean version followed more closely to the noval compared to the Japanese movie. In term of the overall plot at least. But of course, this movie do still have some parts that are changed. To describe it in one line, this movie is what would've happened in Devotion if Yukawa Manabu hadn't existed and instead of him, it was Kusanagi who had been close friends with Ishigami and being the sole person who had to break the trick created by the 'suspect x'.

Got to say that it was an interesting take on the novel, tho there was one con to this. That we didn't have the confrontation between two geniuses, math vs physics, and instead we get the basic detective plot trying to break an alibi trick created by a person who made use of blind spots in logic. Still it was interesting seeing this movie, that we get to see some parts of the novel that wasn't shown in Suspect X. It's also interesting to note that in this movie, the mother-daughter relationship of Yasuko and Misato was changed to aunt-niece for Hwasun and her niece.

The first time I watch this movie, I haven't really paid attention to the casting. But now I really loving it. It's interesting to see Jo Jinwoong play the Korean version of Kusanagi who was played by Kitamura Kazuki. It felt so fated, seeing how later on Kitazuki-san end up playing the Japanese version of Jo Jinwoong's character in Signal. I was reminded of Masha's quote about having a KOH+ song to accompany every Galileo adaptations, and I gotta agree... it does feel like something was missing in this movie when there's no KOH+ song playing in the credits.
After 9 years since Midsummer's Night, I was really delighted to see a new addition to the Detective Galileo series by Higashino Keigo-san. I really gonna start reading the novel once I get my hand on it.

What an enjoyable movie! I really missed seeing the trio together after so long and it was certainly a delight to find out that Higashino Keigo-san did release a new novel after Midsummer's equation. (Though I still wished publishers also pick up translating the other earlier novels, given how popular the series is)

Fukuyama Masaharu was still great as Professor Yukawa, bringing out the many charms of an eccentric physics professor who also had a taste in mystery deduction. It was also great to see Shibasaki Kou back as Utsumi, bringing back the old Yukawa-Utsumi dynamics that everyone loved dearly. And with Kitamura Kazuki reprising his role as Kusanagi, the ultimate trio is complete! Even more, I really appreciate this movie due to the fact that this is the first live action adaptation of the novel where both Kusanagi and Utsumi were taking their roles exactly as their novel counterparts (ie most of the drama plot for Utsumi before was originally written for Kusanagi while plots that include Utsumi in - after Higashino-san start writing her in due to drama's popularity - end up being pushed to Kishitani)

But of course, due to some changes in drama plot aka having Utsumi being sent away for training and slotting in Kishitani as her replacement, some of the writing would be affected to reflect that but the overall vibe of the movie was still okey.

As usual, Kusanagi and Utsumi were dealing with yet another complicated case and ended up needing the help of our reluctant physics professor who always tend to find himself in the middle of a case. And this time, Kusanagi had to confront an old case that once traumatised him so much.

I really love the trio's dynamics, and I especially love how Utsumi grew to become this bridge that's connecting Yukawa and Kusanagi and mediated between their relationship; as Yukawa and Kusanagi's friendship started to become strained due to the case.

The case was interesting as well as it featured a conflict faced by the police when they couldn't prosecute the suspect that they're sure to be guilty yet unable to prove the crime as the suspect kept their silence despite mounting evidence stacked against them. It also presents a dilemma when they have to investigate the victims of the crime who may have committed murder out of revenge due to the failure of the police to punish a criminal using the law.

The movie compiled a montage at the end in the credits featuring most of the trio's past scenes in drama and movies which I find to be very sweet.
Yanno, I was kinda glad that I decided to watch this movie after I finished the Grand Invasion event in the Touran game. Because knowing the little bits of background info on some of the main events as well as some of the sortie expeditions from the game just adds to the experience in enjoying the movie. And I like the fact that this movie add the involvement of the Saniwa to the reason the Grand Invasion happen since that event was still some of my most favourite part of the game. Not to mention the fact that this movie feature two of the most well-known story set in the Sengoku era. I lost count of how many different animes and games made their own interpretations of what happened to Oda Nobunaga during the battle of Honnouji as well as Azuchi Castle.

Having watched the first film this one was based on, I was expecting a new adventure featuring our favourite pirates and bandits team in action again, despite the change of casts. But it turned out that this film was somewhat of a reimagination of the original Pirates 2014 movie.

Wasn't planning to watch this remake to be honest, but I guess things just happened. I mean I just happened to find this remake movie so I might as well watch it. I have to say that of the two remakes of Blind, this version followed the original much more closely compared to the Japanese one. Not just in the base plotline but also in the way certain scenes were filmed. But I guess it's inevitable considering this film was directed by the same person who directed the original Blind. Even then, some changes were to be expected as the screenwriter for the film would be different and the elements added to the movie would be influenced by the kinds of things that would appeal to the Chinese audience.

That said, even as this remake was very similar to the original and not as loosely adapted as it had been with the Japanese version, there were still some details that were written differently. And for someone who have seen the original and the Japanese remake, noticing the different details have to be one of the things that will stand out to you.

Blind (2011)

This movie was amazing! Having watched Midnight, I had more interest in looking for other stories that feature a similar scenario. And lo... this movie came to my attention. And considering the movie also feature Seungho as one of the leads as well as this movie turned out to be Bogum's debut work... well I have to say that my interest was captured.

Blind Witness (2019)

Since I was on a roll and found out that Blind had a remake (actually there were two more but I haven't watched the Chinese or the Hindi one), I thought that I might as well watch this remake as well. Since I'm no stranger to seeing remake of Korean movies or dramas into Japanese (and vice versa) I do get curious as to how the remake would turn out. Especially as Japanese remakes do try to give their own spin to the shows they were based on. But since I've already seen the original, it's unavoidable that there will be some comparison to the original.

Like the original movie, Blind Witness also deals with a serial kidnapper who killed unsuspecting women and crossed paths with a blind woman and a young boy who ended up witnessing his deeds. Safe to say on that level, the original and remake share a common trait. But aside from that, this movie was as different to the original as it was similar.

Was randomly looking up stuff to watch and thought that I might as well watch an old movie when Seungho was much younger. And since it's a murder mystery, that's another plus point.

I have to say that it's interesting to see Yoo Seungho, Kang Sora and few other familiar faces looking a lot younger than I usually see them. And it amused me to see Park Chulmin in this movie as well, acting as Junghoon's teacher.

Half of me wished that this movie could've been much longer, like there are some parts that I wished had been elaborated further but it served the purpose. The mystery of the true killer wasn't really too complicated yet still kept me guessing until the end. The movie really provide quite a suspense with the chases by a secondary suspect and later the actual killer as Dajung and Junghoon tried to escape with their lives.

Like I mentioned earlier, there was quite a few loose ends remained unresolved, in which it may feel like watching an incomplete story but overall still an entertaining thriller.

This is a really good thriller! The very fact that it featured a deaf witness make this a very unique story.

Being targeted by a serial killer who chooses his victims at random and kill without any reason was a scary scenario normally. Even more when you have a disability that may hinder you to seek help or even to protect yourself. Which is why the situation in the movie was scary.

I have to say that I really applaud Jin Kijoo in acting as a deaf person in this movie. Her acting, as well as the actress who played as her mother were really good at bringing out the tense situation on being targeted by a killer while having a great disadvantage of not being able to hear your suroundings as well as not being able to speak clearly.
I've finally finished watching this at last. Fair to say, when the live action adaptation was announced, I was worried about how would they approach the show and adapt it into a movie. Since I'm not sure that there would be any plans for any other subsequent continuation and I'm a bit biased as I'm really fond of the live action musical casts.

But the movie turned out to be fine, not really what I'd expected it to be concluded but it was fine enough to be a standalone movie adaptation. Love the CGI effects and the cinematic setting. It would've been nice if there were actually plans to adapt the Soul Society Arc as well, but at least there's the old Rock Musical Bleach to fill that hole.

This movie was listed as an Action/Comedy genre but really the comedic parts were barely noticeable and were more cute than comical. That's fine to be honest as it added some charm points to the characters and made them lovable.

Jo Jungsuk as Yongnam was very adorable as a character. It's very cute to see him very passionate about his hobby to keep practicing his skills and maintaining his fitness. In which it ended up being quite useful during his attempt to save his family and himself from the dangerous toxic gas.

Yoona as Yongnam's ex who also used to take part in the rock-climbing/mountaineering hobby makes a great counterpart to Jungsuk's character. It was so cool to see them climbing walls and jumping from building to building in order to reach safety, using the skills that they know. It was a terrifying experience to go through but they still braved it out and still managed to selfless whenever they found other people more in need of saving than themselves. It made their characters so endearing and makes you wanna cheer for them to success in saving themselves. It was really heartwarming especially when you see so many people trying to help them by sending out their own drones to find them.

This movie was really fun and keeps you on your toes to see how the fate of the characters will turn out in the end. It's a really good disaster movie with great action that'll keep you rooted on the spot. And the Superhero song at the end really wrap the whole package and provide a satisfying ending to the movie.
I usually don't frequently watch movies or shows that were like autobiographical accounts of real life people simply because I can't bear watching if anything bad happened to the people shown in the show, since it's based on real life events. But sometimes I do brave through it since one should try to learn about the past and understand the history of things that shaped the present.

That said, it was interesting to see how the freedom fighters in the past try to fight against the colonist at its own land. Park Yeol was indeed an intriguing person and his love affair with Kaneko Fumiko was really so sweet. It's amazing to witness how Park Yeol continued to fight for his country and in the process enlightening even the local Japanese allies to try to change their country.

Lee Jehoon never ceased to amaze with every role he played. He really brings out the eccentricity of Park Yeol's personality as well as strength of character.
Never thought I'd be able to see the Jinchu arc made it into the live action adaptation. So when the new movies were announced I was really elated as the Jinchu arc was one of my favourite arc in the manga, and half of me did wished to see that arc to appear in the live action. Especially since for the earlier three movies, the live actions did have certain parts that they changed in order to fit all the important plotlines while trying to stay close to the original story.

That said, it's been a long while since I've read the manga... yet I am glad to see some of the familiar plots reappearing in the live action almost exactly as it originally did in manga. And it intrigued me to see the parts that was changed and reimagined in order to fit the set amount of time for the movie. I was delighted to see the return of the Oniwabanshu members as well as certain surviving members of the Juppon Gatana who ended up fighting on the same sides. Not to mention the unexpected Seta-Himura combo was really amazing to see and enjoy. And I also love seeing more glimpse of Tomoe-Kenshin plotlines alongside the conflicts with Enishi.

I really enjoyed the movie and I'm looking forward to The Beginning as we get to see more of the past relationship Kenshin had with Tomoe.

Finished yet another of Lee Jehoon movies lol, I'm on a roll! Honestly I have to say that either Jehoon was really blessed to be cast in some really good production or he really had a knack at choosing what kind of production that he was gonna be part it. Because really, a lot of the movies he's in that I've watched so far always turned out surprisingly beyond what could've been expected at first glance. Like you'd think that this movie was just about grave robbers stealing artifacts and national treasures for their own profits... but you probably wouldn't expect that these same grave robbers would end up doing a major heroic deed!

Like at first as the movie opened up, we were introduced to the main character, Kang Donggu who may appear to just be a simple grave robber who just want to steal artifacts for his own profits. To which later on he ended up entangled with people who may end up being out of their leagues. At first glance, the whole setting might seem to be uninteresting but you can't be more mistaken about that! The adventure that unfolds afterwards turned out to be as exciting as the original Indiana Jones trilogy!

Lee Jehoon as Kang Donggu was really a good fit for him, like it felt that the character was really written for him and only him. I really couldn't imagine anyone else who could play Donggu better other than Jehoon. Jehoon really made the character to be so charming and quirky yet also have a certain depth as you find out what kind of dark past that Donggu had that made him be so good at being a grave robber. Shin Hyesun as Curator Yoon was really amazing. And seeing how convincing she was while having to speak Chinese and Japanese fluently like a native really shows how good she was as an actress.

Jo Woojin as the Korean Indiana Jones was also so charming. Like I knew him from Goblin, he was so cool as Secretary Kim but he was so charismatic and funny in this movie it was really fun seeing him being paired with Jehoon as the movie's dynamic duo. Im Wonhae was really so funny as the Shoveller, I swear whenever I see him in any show he'll always makes me laugh.

This movie was really funny and exciting and seriously had plenty of colourful characters that you can't help loving. I have to say that this movie immediately become one of my new favourite amongst many other movies that I've watched.
Pretty cool movie, I really love the noir vibe. The visuals felt like seeing an animated movie that came into life, which was the best kind of noir environment. Hard to believe that the movie was made in 2016, instead of... like few decades earlier.

Making Hong Gildong a detective gave the character a unique kind of appeal compared to how the character was usually written, even more as an eccentric detective that moves like a ghost. Lee Jehoon really brings Hong Gildong's character to life with his portrayal of an eccentric thief-like detective with a mysterious past. Not to mention carrying a painful past.

I love the fact that the movie had Hong Gildong having to go around with two kids on tow in order to locate the person who had ties to his past. Really love the interaction they have between them as Gildong slowly started to open up his heart to the kids despite the kids being the grandchildren of his enemy.

Go Ara was really fit for her role of Chairman Hwang, like she really brings out the classy aura of the person who supported Hong Gildong from the shadows. And I have to say that Kim Sunghyun as the main villain was really cool; like some anime villain archetype, complete with his shiny glasses.
Never thought there'd be a day when I'd welcome an insane dose of comedy in a supposed ghost 'horror' movie. But then you got this movie lol.

I'm currently on a Lee Jehoon binge where I try to watch his past works that may sound like a fun show to watch, and Jehoon as a young shaman was really an interesting concept. And his character did turn out to be an interesting one since Sukyun wasn't just any normal shaman character but one with a doctorate and using technology to fight and exorcise ghosts.

The rest of the exorcists also turned out to be an interesting bunch and you get almost every single interpretation of what an exorcist could be, to which later on it got narrowed down to a specific five-man group plus a journalist whose father turned out to also be connected to the place where the special ghost exorcism ritual was supposed to be done.

There were moments where the plot gets serious and spooky and dark... and then there were silly and hilarious parts that you can't help being tickled about, and there were parts that can be quite emotional yet cute. Like I'm aware that Jehoon had that super adorable charm about him, but this movie is too much lol. And then when you get that unexpected reveal about the relationship between Kim Sooro's character and Jehoon's, you can't help feeling even more drawn to the characters as they tried to put a stop to the big evil spirit's schemes. Kang Yewon was also charming as journalist Chanyeong and you wouldn't have guessed that she was actually several years older than Jehoon.

This movie was a lot of fun to watch and seriously it had a very good balance between the horror and comedy genre.
Finally I finished watching this movie omg and I love it. While the story wasn’t really THAT unique if you wanna compare to like many other space scifi movies that came before, it's really an impressive movie. Not to mention it was the first made by Koreans and starring Korean casts.

Never really expect a story about some junk scavengers would spiral into a race to save the Earth but there ya go. I really love how the back stories of the main characters were gradually revealed... not to mention how Taeho turned out to be like Yoo Sijin in space lol. I had lots of tears of sads and happiness throughout the movie I never thought I'd get hit with so much feels in this movie!

And another aspects that I really love in this movie was how much multilingual this movie is like everyone of different ethnicities were a lot of times communicates using their own languages and everyone could understand each other using a universal translation gadgets that they all have. That was really rare to see in even Hollywood movies. I had so much fun watching this movie, I really love it so much!

Never thought I'd be able to see this movie so soon, what with the pandemic et al so when this movie appeared on tvN Movies I immediately grabbed the chance to see it!

At first, it may seem to be a mediocre start as we were initially introduced to the plot setting, as well as the main characters. And the case that was chosen to be the first one being held with a jury seemed to be a simple case of murder, with what seemed to be a clear motive for murder by the defendant. It may turn out to be a boring case as the jurors chosen seemingly more interested in resuming their normal lives rather than taking seriously of the task at hand. But with the eighth juror starting to doubt that the case was as simple as it appears, that was when the plot started to get interesting.

Gonna lay this out first. If you're expecting Peninsula to go exactly as Train to Busan did, you might as well go rewatch the first movie and not have your high expectations be dashed. If you dived into this movie without any set expectations you might surprise yourself to realise that you actually enjoyed this movie. I mean, I watched this in the cinema and regardless of how much CGI had been used in this movie compared to Busan, I haven't even had time to think about that. Because yes, the movie was quite fast-paced but it was exactly due to that what made any kinds of CGI barely noticeable.

I mean face it, the setting was four years after the escape to Busan. And even then, the situation was already chaotic. And the setting for the movie was focused on the other surviving people who had to try to escape the zombies by other ways BESIDES taking the KTX to Busan. Certainly, you can't expect the situation to unfold exactly the same as the people on that particular train. And the story still have a similar theme; how fear and desperation will affect the people trying to escape from the virus that will turn you into an undead. And what'll happen when the efforts to curb the zombie pandemic did not show many results as other nation decides to abandon the people still trapped in the zombie-ridden country?

And to be honest, this isn't the first zombie movie that do use CGI for some of the zombies (like seriously, you don't run actual people with high speed cars) and that never stopped people from enjoying movies like Silent Hill or Resident Evil. Heck, I enjoyed this movie a whole lot better from Rampant and that's saying something. Besides... I love all the Fast & Furious parts. That was fun. It's so fun that I felt like screaming in fear but it's still fun. And it's amazing how the survivors made use of the sensitivities to light and sounds to try divert the zombies around in order to make their escape. And of course like in Busan, there ARE assholes in this movie as well. More than a bunch of selfish asshole to make the good people's lives harder just to survive. And we do get a great climatic 'battle' near the end. And we also got an unexpected plot twist just as hope seemed to be lost near the end of the movie. So all in all, this movie was good in my book.
