Title: E Inzaghi Ed Izanami
Series: 빈센조/Vincenzo
Characters: Vincenzo Cassano/Park Joohyeong, Inzaghi the Pigeon
Summary: Just a name could provide so much power...
-----------------------------------------
He knew it. It was too good to be true. For things to go smoothly for him without having something else happening to him that will punch him in the gut in return. Well, he literally DID get punched on the gut.
He should learn his lesson. How can things go well for him without something else screwing it up like some kind of bad karma? Things like this have already happened WAY too many times.
Like how Lawyer Hong seemed to be able to find a way to overturn his case against Babel Pharmaceutical, only for later to have him and the remaining witness; as well as whistleblower, be killed under the guise of a freak accident and a suicide. Or like how he thought his revenge plan against Babel Group was going so well after blowing up their warehouse—as well as winning their case against Babel Chemicals—only to find out later that those guys have retaliated by murdering the former clients of Lawyer Hong who have aided him and Cha-young with their plans for revenge.
He should have been more wary of his enemies. He shouldn't be so careless. Though it was still so fun to be able to humiliate Jang Hanseok—and as much as the outcome of their infiltration at the gallery earlier was unplanned—kissing Hong Cha-young was also something that he didn't regret doing.
Though he wished that things like these didn't have to happen at some cost. He'd like to be able to savour his winnings a bit longer... and reminisce at how sweet Cha-young's lips had tasted. Instead of being stuck in a situation where it seemed, there was no escape for him to save himself.

The hitman in front of him spoke again. He should call him Thug A. Thug B beside the guy looked like a wimp. And he hated the fact that Thug C was standing behind him where he couldn't see what the guy's doing.
Did his life really have to end under these thugs' hands?
"Paolo told me to give you a painless death if you show respect to him."
What a joke. Even in his current position, he couldn't believe what he's hearing. Respect? To Paolo? Was that brat even worth his respect? Paolo still never learned...
Vincenzo gasped in disbelief.
"Relay this message to Paolo, I will not respect him... even after I die!"
By all means, he still wanted to live. Yet he couldn't still stomach the idea of having to beg for his life from these lowlives. His pride as the Cassano consigliere wouldn't let him. Even if by doing so, he'd be forfeiting his life.
He snickered at his bleak circumstances.
Thug A started pressing the muzzle of his gun onto his forehead as Vincenzo kept glaring. Even if he had to die, he would not go down without a fight! There was no way that he would ever show weakness to these thugs...
Without warning, a sound of a bird cooing broke the silence of the night. Vincenzo turned his glance to find the source of the sound. To his surprise, not far from them... a lone pigeon sat perched onto one of the legs of an upturned table.

Is that... Inzaghi?
Suddenly, something extraordinary started to happen. From behind Inzaghi, suddenly a flock of pigeons started to come flying towards them. Not just one or two or three pigeons... but it seemed like hundreds of them had flown in out of nowhere! And all of the birds started attacking the three thugs without being ordered to. Or did they?
The sight of tens or hundreds of birds saving him from being executed was a sight to behold! It felt like a strange dream—unreal—yet it was still happening in front of him. It was as if a divine being has come to send him some help. And that divine help came in form of these flocks of pigeons!
Yet, just these pigeons alone could not defeat the three thugs. So with a new burst of energy, Vincenzo got up on his feet and grabbed Thug A to shoot on Thug C. Before Thug C could react, he shot the man down. He immediately turned around to face Thug B, as he used Thug A as a shield. Thug B fired a few shots—which never hit their marks—as he shoved Thug A towards Thug B.
So all that's left was Thug B. And it didn't take long for him to gain an upper hand on Thug B and subduing the man in the least amount of time. He grabbed the gun that Thug B was holding as he fired two shots to make sure that he really killed the guy.
Vincenzo turned around as he rushed towards the pigeon that has gone back to perching on the same upturned table that he saw before. He lowered himself to get a closer look at the bird. It was hard for him to be sure, and a lot of pigeons can bear a similar marking and colouring, so the shocking miracle that he initially thought earlier might have just been a freakish coincidence...
Yet he still had to make sure!
"Inzaghi?"
The pigeon in front of him didn't fly away from him out of fear and seemed to be responding to him as he said the name. Could this really be Inzaghi the Pigeon who had always hung around his apartment's bedroom window?
"Inzaghi..."
Could this be real?
Inzaghi started fluttering its wings as if flustered by the attention he was currently giving him, before flying off into the night like some righteous and selfless hero. The sight of the bird flying away from him took his breath away.
"Thank you, Inzaghi."
Thank you... for saving my life.
And as Vincenzo went down on the stairs to get back to his room, he had to wonder again. Was it really a coincidence that he called that particular pigeon with the name of Izanagi? Because it seemed by doing so, he had gained favour from such a divine being.
