WTF?

Title: Ever After
Chapter
: 6 - Sheltered
Characters: Nishikido Ryo, Takizawa Hideaki, some other people...
Fandom: Johnny's Entertainment
Rating
: G
Summary: Continuation to Tsunderella.
A/N: I think I wrote Yuko's speech too... medieval. XDDDD I try to rewrite her tone later if it was that bad. And WTF why I always ended up writing Ryo as too innocent for his own good XO

------------------

Yuko gently swept Ryo's bangs aside as the young man continued to sleep on his bed. She sighed to herself before looking around towards Hideaki.

"Are you sure, child? To entrust me with taking care of Ryo? After all the bad deeds that I've done to both of you?"

Hide shrugged.

"We can't forever hold grudges in our hearts, can we?" he said as the woman sighed.

"It appeared that this child do, I guess. What better revenge to me but to just forget the very existence of mine? Must have been bliss then, after all I had only done him ill most of the time he had been in my care."

"I don't think Ryo hated you any more than I do, despite how much he had been hurt because of you," Yuko looked at him unconvinced as Hide went to Ryo's desk, taking out a small gift box from inside of Ryo's bag. He handed her the box as the older woman looked at it in wonder.

"Erika-chan told me yesterday, that Ryo had been protecting his bag dearly. I supposed because that was inside the bag. Read the card's description."

Yuko looked down and opened the card that came with the box before gasping. There, written with Ryo's neat writing was a short sentence.

'Yuko-san, could this be a chance to start over? I missed that kindly person that I used to meet before. Hopefully, this gift would be enough to show my feelings.'

The woman gasped as she gently ripped open the box and took out a small music box. She opened the lid before winding the key, as a children's lullaby started to play. Yuko choked a tear as she turned to face Ryo.

Her hand brushed over his forehead again as she flicked his bangs aside to reveal an old scar on Ryo's forehead, slightly above his left eye. Yuko cried again.

"Stupid child! I've hurt you so much, how can you forgive me so easily?"

Hide shrugged.

"It's because you're Keiichiro and Shige's mother, no doubt. And it was not like you've done nothing good towards us brothers. Even when you seemed to despise us after our father had died, you still took care of us and not throw either me or Ryo to the streets."

Yuko flicked a glance towards Hide.

"Yet another silly child. Hideaki-kun, I used to try to kill you. How could you even let that and the injustice I've done since, so easily aside?"

Hide grinned. "It's because our father had always thought us to always treat others kindly, no matter how cruelly people might treat us in return. Good deed never do anyone wrong after all."

Yuko sighed. "Your father was indeed a good man. Much better than my first husband. If I had not suffered so much because of him abandoning me and my two sons so casually, I could have not been so ill to the point that I could not think rationally of my own actions—I would not have become such a cruel mother to both of you right after your father's death. In a way, Ryo forgetting me might have been a perfect punishment. That way, I can only atone to my sins for as long as I would live and the guilt would still remain. How befitting such a person as myself."

"Don't say like that... Yuko-san. I'm sure... if Ryo had remembered you again, he would not want you to continue blaming yourself."

"Perhaps," Yuko smiled weakly. "Perhaps time would tell..."

"Pi! There you are!"

Ryo's face lighted up as he saw his friend walk in and sat on the couch before him. He grinned.

"Why weren't you around yesterday evening? Did something happen? Oh wait... yesterday, everyone seemed to be worried about me... for some reason."

"Ryo... did you really not remember anything from yesterday? You don't even remember Keii-san's mother?"

Ryo appeared to react little to his statement.

"Unn? Remember... what? Ah, is there something that had happened yesterday that I didn't know? Everyone seemed very baffled about that. Even that aunty..." Ryo glanced towards the direction of the kitchen where he had seen Yuko last.

Yamapi's shoulders sagged. "You really forgot..." he gasped as Ryo looked at him blankly.

"Is there something important that I should remember?"

Ryo suddenly frowned. "Come to think... I just realized that I did forget about a lot of things. My memories did feel like they were all fragmented and disconnected," Ryo mused to himself as he stared at his arm. It had been grazed badly before so now his right hand had been wrapped in bandage, up to his elbow. His left wrist was also bruised a bit and he did recall that he had felt discomfort on his abdomen during the morning. And he stared at the crutch beside him as if he had just realized its significance.

"Pi... did I have an accident before?" Ryo asked, puzzled as he started scratching the side of his head. "Did something happen yesterday as well—you seemed to also know about it."

Pi seemed to detect a hint of recognition in Ryo's eyes as if he had started to remember but then frowned as Ryo appeared to be in pain. He hastily sat beside him as he gently patted his back.

"It's alright. You don't have to force yourself to remember. I'm sorry to suggest that stupid question anyway—"

"But it's true, isn't it? I did forgot something and it not something little. It was the same with that aunty—did you know why... Pi?"

Pi shook his head as to talk Ryo away from this line of conversation. He immediately apologized to him as Ryo looked at his strangely.

"Why did you apologize suddenly?"

Pi smiled nervously.

"It's because I've said something wrong yesterday. We did argue... you know? You probably forgot about it already but I just wanted to say it. I'm sorry to not understand your feelings about certain things before. I guess I was a bit too concerned about you,"

Ryo stared at him suspiciously. Clearly oblivious to whatever he was talking about. He nodded at him cautiously as Pi forced a smile at him.

"So how about we take a bit of a walk to the park now?" he suddenly said as Ryo gave a cry of surprise.

He barely speak to Yuko that he was going out before Yamapi dragged him further away, rendering him unable to refuse the invite.
