Today I went movie-watching... with sisters and friends. Best things to do... watching stuffs with friends, regardless if you're doing at home or cinemas or somewhere. Nicer if you had on similar fandom that you can all understand some of the subtle jokes. And the best thing that we had done today... seeing that what we literally booked the whole hall for watching Avengers. How cool is that? Good thing about that, if we unthinkingly reacted loudly while watching, you don't have to be so conscious that someone might just shoosh you or something. I mean right.... not everyone can just stone for a few hours watching a movie without making a sound. Especially when said movies are so exciting to watch.
Unless of course you're watching a serious movie or documentaries. I mean... it was quite strange when no one made a sound at a intended funny scene, even inside cinema. I mean... if you're reacting to the movie content I don't see why anyone would be so offended about it. Unless you're secretly trying to record the movies and sell them as bootleg copies. THEN yo have reason to be annoyed. Or, if you were talking odd unrelated things during the screening and/or physically distracting other people to enjoy the movie.
So, that's why I love today's outing~
Not really intended to spoil anything, but I LOVED what Whedon had done on this movie. It was fun, hilarious, action-packed... and FUN, that was important. Not really well-versed in many of the Marvel heroes, but I do know them and had to say, I liked how they were portrayed in the movies. I mean... the last time I saw/read any Hulk, Thor or Iron Man toons/comics I'm so young, how'd I recall?
So yeah, by my opinion... I loved what I see. I mean... you did not see the superheroes all 'leathered' up like they did with X-men. You see them as they used to appear in their cartoons and comics. Had to love the classics. I used to hate whenever past comic adaptations tried to change the costumes so that it looked 'realistic'. I mean... unless you're Batman, why the need for all that? You don't see Superman getting the leather, dark colours treatment, do you? Colourful is nice. Unless of course in the original comics the heroes did wear such grim theme.
Anyway, loved Stark's snarky remarks to practically everyone and being so witty. He was spurting random odd trivias here and there while poking at people. I call that easter eggs for people who knew the fandom. I mean... Stark making a Legolas quip on Hawkeye and (unintentional/intentional?) Doctor Who reference when he tried to fix one of the engines of the S.H.I.E.L.D.'s by saying that he needed to 'reverse the polarity' of some of the wirings and stuff? Yeah, that's priceless. (I don't know if other fandom had used that phrase before the Third Doctor did, but I will always be remind of this fact. And in the past, there was a cameo of Ten and Rose in Buffy's comic No Future For You so I'm REALLY not gonna be surprise if Whedon did intentionally put a Who joke in there.)
Come to think... there was another Who in-joke being thrown in there. You know how randomly there would be some scenes that implied that the Doctor or some other character were fully naked in a scene? Like Jack with the defabricator and Metacrisis!Ten during Journey's End? Well, the scenes when this old guy found Bruce naked after he got thrown out of the SHIELD base made me think of that. While naked scenes are also used on other movies as well... this particular scene doing it almost reminiscent of MetaTen's scene just made me smile.
That aside, the flying base reminded me of UNIT's Valiant and the giant scaled fish things reminding me now of Crisis's monster just made me geekier.
Loving Tony Stark so much for him poking at everyone... and the random things that came out of his mouth. Plus how everyone was cracking random jokes and snark was so fun to watch. They're not even trying to be funny and they did bring in the laughs. So fun~ The fight scenes are so fun to watch... really the star of the show is the HULK. Gotta love the green guy~
Loved everyone's lines with each other, loved the in-jokes~
Not really familiar with the Avengers series, but the way the movie had been presented... even a non-fan would start to grow on the characters. They're that delightful to watch. Not familiar with Captain America but somehow he made me think of Abraham Lincoln on spandex. Hmm.... that was interesting. XD.
Best thing of all... there was no attempt at fanservice! I mean like random sex stuff or something, not the random fandom references. I call that GOOD. The scenes with Potts and Stark don't count! See? If a movie/story was written well, they don't need any fanservice. Those are just 'extras'. And the explosions aren't too excessive as well. Loved the chemistry between the characters. Seriously loving it all.

That aside, being spontaneous and grabbed Hollow Earth the moment I've set my eyes on it. */clenches fist. BARROWMAAAAAAAAAAAAN!* Yeah, partially buying the book because of John... wanna see how his (and his sister's) writing was like. Plus, the plot was similar to something I've always had in my mind for my NaNo muse all these years but never put down to words. Maybe someday I would actually go back to that muse.
