Just felt inspired to resume watching Makai Senki since the last time I pick this up cos my PC died and it took me ages to dig up my nerve to salvage my HDD. Hehehehe. Neways it's also partially related to Yami wo Terasu Mono~
Because some of my flist apparently started to try watching Yami wo Terasu Mono (not sure if they watched both GARO and Makai Senki first) though I don't get it why they jumped straight to season 3. Judging from their reaction.
Since they made such a deal over Ikeda Junya's character doing approx 3 mins long sex scene in Episode 2. AND IT'S NOT EVEN THAAAAAAAAAAAAT EXPLICIT MAN~~ It's just... mostly... a feature on a naked woman being sexed but we really din see much sexin'. I mean.... compared to that one episode of Makai Senki where we had this tycoon guy doing fancy schmoozing before getting killed by this guy possessed by Horror from a lighter~ We din even get full nekid shot of Junya.... eh? 8P
Episode 3 had this.... nekid ladies that seemed to make people disappear. Hmmm Hmm~~~ not even artsy, just nekid ladies. I wonder if my reaction over seeing nekid japanese ladies got mellowed after seeing tons of it in the previous GAROs. I mean.... we get SUPER closeup on Melshia's glorious body~ and Makai Senki first OP montage is so full of kaleidoscope shots of naked drawn women nekid body parts~ So when I see lack of it in YamiMono I feel at lost. Like really. And in episode 3 you don't even get real closeup on boobs or see some groping and molest--- 8D sometimes I do wonder what people thought of me through my Tweets and blog posts 8D Anyway YamiMono so far din't have Horrors who's forms being nekid artistically armoured nekid women. (No, I do not count that lying bloated hand lying thing luring people around) Hmmm...
Even the OPENING didn't have nekid women in ANY forms. No, this is nothin about misogyny or whatever... those nekid artistic closeup are PRETTY~ cos they have these andpainted makai writings and stuff.... it was so pretty---wait, in YamiMono there aren't real Horrors. Just fake man-made MAGICAL Horrors. -_- Is this why Imma not getting pretty nekid ladies with makai characters written all over their bodies? SHUCKS.
And uhh.... what happened to that english intro? Was it cos no real horrors so you no show that "When there is light, shadow bablablablaa" osm part?
Anyway... as I waited for more YamiMono episode, I went catchup marathon with Makai Senki. Comparison are inevitable.
What YamiMono are lacking:
Yeah.... as mentioned;
1 - Lack of nekidness of men or women featured.
Yeah... there are some... but not really explicit. Or I get tired of seeing the same flat boobs... (I do wonder if I was really a girl at the way I talked about boobs...) I can't believe I'm saying this... hahaha. Or maybe I missed all the artsy Makai tatoos
2 - Lack of Amemiya-san's touch.
Yeah... the series WAS based on Keita Amemiya's idea, but somehow seeing how YamiMono looked so far I had to wonder if the fact that he didn't take part in making YamiMono had influence in the whole feel. I mean in both GARO and Makai Senki he was involved as writer AND (exec?) director alongside few other writers and directors. And Kaoru's drawing was actually Amemiya-san's. Sure, there are two similar writers and two directors involve in YamiMono... but somehow without Amemiya's touch YamiMono seemed less dark and less adult-feel. Despite the whole mystery as to why GARO armour lost its light and what happened to Kouga to warrant the armour and Zaruba being inherited by Ryuga. Even YamiMono felt less SCARY. DX. I creeped my head off in that ep where Leo took Kaoru to see the sacred beast...
And I wonder if the team gets uncreative without Amemiya-san. Cos please... why you try too hard to make Ryuga has simiar past as Kouga? I mean... what's with his mother.... thing? I swear if you wanna make like she died killed by horrors I gonna kick stuff! And Ryuga's too cheerful and emo wth?
3 - The new Makai Knights are so kiddy.
Had to agree on Zaruba on this part. Wonder if that line was intentional thus this WHOLE kiddyfying GARO.... (which is weird. GARO... for kids?) But yeah... Sorry to the respective actor's (and actresses) fans. That trio and Lian still din have much seriousness coming from them unlike how you get from Kouga, Jabi, Rei, Tsubasa or even Rekka! It's llike them doing all this Makai stuff at VolCity just for fun~ yeah with Burai babysitting them... -__- I repeat, Ryuga being so carefree seemed so wrong with the setting so 'dark' and gritty~ I feel like I'm watching Zebraman instead.
But since it's a bit early for anything, really hope they pick up their paces. At least, so that they can match up with their predecessors~
4 - Horror designs are kinda meh (so far)
But probably cos these aren't ACTUAL horrors so you no get sexy stuff or grotesque mad-ass creepy-looking Horrors with weird bodyparts designs or themes~ Do hope the monster designs get better... since it's still early as well... cos the standard pirating off copies of nameless horrors are boring. But the new soul ripping eating method was nifty too~
The previous two series had similar patterns~ so gonna see what YamiMono have in store and will it follow similar patterns.
1 - Main villain is mastermind. But we never realise who they are until they sneak up on us~
Barago had been under different name and was close to the gang... and we never knew his real name was Barago until too late~ A Sigma look-a-like was intro-ed like hello new comrade and then oshit!reveal and then later... eh it's Sigma!!!!!!!!!!!
But so far YamiMono din hint on actual evil Mastermind.... or you wanna hint at Kaneshiro Corp? Or the SG-1? Or Burai?
2 - Main villain gets swallowed by Master Horror they wanna control, and those Horrors are SUPERSEXY LAYDEHS~
Messiah and Ganon. Nuff said. I hope YamiMono have pretty sexy last boss monster too~ unless you wanna mean those goddess statues... -__- (WTF you give Ryuga that whole... 'I can empath stuff" stuff? Yeah I know Kouga had similar abilities, but that one was pull of well. Like sorta CSI thing.)
3 - Garo saves and protects everyone and is strongest. But when he's in danger, it's time for the GIRLS to save him~
Seriously, Kouga got saved by Kaoru, Jabi, Kaoru, Rekka, Rin Kaoru, Kaoru, Kaoru. YES Kaoru has no special powers but she's the heroine of our GARO~ Even the ED scene hints on it since it's always feature Kaoru. So... will Lian be bad-ass too? Aaaa that means she gonna get coupled with Ryuga right? Pfft~ I wanna her with Aguri...
4 - GARO gets new upgrades influenced by osm ladies~
Seriously how many times Kouga's GARO gets new upgrades that was mostly influenced by girls? (Besides the cape one. That's just thousands of GARO spirits~ and Zaruba was the one doing it) Kaoru drew the wings~ I forgot what happened in Requiem... 8D. But I dunno bout YamiMono. Besides the whole returning Garo's light et al~
5. Badass secondary girl leads
Jabi, Rekka, Saejima Rin... even Yamagatana Rin is badass okay??? YamiMono better have more bad-ass girls besides Rian. No, not counting that SG1 lady yet.
