Title: Last Stage
Series: 황후의 품격 / The Last Empress
Characters: Na Wangshik, Oh Sunny
Summary: As the 10th anniversary of Lee Hyuk's reign grows nearer, Dowager Empress Kang schemes yet another plan to foil Oh Sunny's attempt to bring light to the Imperial family's crimes. It'll take more than just the combined efforts of both Sunny and Wangshik to try to bring them down. And will Lee Hyuk finally have a change of heart?

He woke up to a dull sensation on the side of his head. What happened to him? The last thing he remembered was him leaving the palace in his car after paying a visit to Empress Sunny's chambers. He didn't manage to see her so he ended up fixing some stuff at her place. For some reason, he couldn't help having a bad premonition about Sunny's safety.
Turned out that bad premonition was about himself! What were the odds of the Dowager Empress's underlings cornering him the moment he was alone by himself?
As his eyes started to readjust to the darkness, Wangshik tried to move his head around to see where he was. And then he noticed a familiar sight. This was the same underground chamber where the Dowager Empress had brought him in before as well as the place where he and Sunny had saved Court Lady Han in the past.
Why was he brought in here? What was the Dowager Empress planning to do to him? He heard some more incoming footsteps as Na Wangshik pretended to sleep again.
"Has the preparation been made?" A female voice was heard. Wangshik had no trouble in identifying the voice and recognized it right away.
It was the Dowager Empress.
"But your highness! Is it fine to do this excessively? His Majesty could also be caught in this."
His Majesty?
...Lee Hyuk? Is the Dowager Empress planning to do what he thinks she's about to do?
"If that's what ended up happening then so be it. Hyuk should know what was it that he should do to retain his title. And if the blast ended up killing him still, that's just his luck."
Wangshik sneaked another look as the footsteps kept coming closer and the Dowager Empress came to view.
"I might as well claim the throne for myself after everything I've done for this Imperial family!!"
Wangshik immediately shut his eyes as the Dowager Empress and another man walked up towards him.
"Good job in securing Na Wangshik. Make sure that no one could see you and foil this plan to put all the blame on this idiot!"
"Yes, Your Highness!" said the other man as Wangshik felt someone grabbing his body to make him sit upright.
Without warning, Wangshik felt a sharp needle piercing the back of his neck before darkness claimed him again.

The resulting explosion that came jerked him back to his senses. There were lots of screamings and his head was ringing. And for some reason, he was now placed at the back of the Imperial Conference Hall behind the stage.
He looked down on himself to find his arms and legs tied up.
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty, are you alright?"
In the midst of the chaos, he could hear Mr Byeon's voice. And Sunny's. As well as a number of people trying to evacuate everyone to safety. Wangshik immediately tried to call out them but found himself unable to. He could hear someone saying that there's still more bomb that was planted in the room.
Oh no. He had to find those bombs and cast them away before any more people get hurt!
Wangshik fumbled to his sides as he found a piece of glass nearby. He hurriedly grabbed it and used it to cut himself loose. He barely got his legs loose as Sunny suddenly cried out Lee Hyuk's name.
"Hyuk, wake up! You have to wake up!"
He has to get himself free. The sounds of other people have grown fainter but if Sunny and Lee Hyuk remained in this hall still, ALL three of them will die here!
Sunny's voice kept crying out towards Hyuk as he could hear the sound of Hyuk's voice, finally waking up.
He started crawling away towards the side of the room as he saw few other guards lying unconscious in front of him. Wangshik kept on struggling to move as Sunny's voice suddenly caught his attention.
"We don't have time. Another bomb will go off in any minute!"
Wha—Wangshik barely looked up as another bomb exploded from the ceiling!
He barely avoided the flames as he continued to crawl away, the smoke and clouds of dust starting to get thicker and unbearable to breathe in.
A part of him was hoping that Sunny and even Hyuk already got out of this place before Hyuk's voice calling out for Sunny made his blood ran cold. Almost at that same moment, he saw yet another timed bomb lying not far from him.
10 seconds left!
9, 8...
Without thinking any longer, Wangshik gathered his last remaining strengths and hurled his body towards the bomb. Just as the timer reached the last second.
The bomb exploded as Wangshik's pain returned to nothingness...
