-----------------------------

Sometimes, he couldn't help but worry a lot about His Highness. For all the times he had known him, there was barely any moment that he hadn't worried about the young prince. Rather than the crown prince whom he had sworn to protect, His Highness was more like a precious little brother that he needed to take care of. He almost lost him... back then when they were trying to escape from the Pyeonsu group. If he knew that things would happen that way, he would've suggested a different route for them to escape.

"You have to protect the Crown Prince now..."

It pained his heart a lot whenever he thought about his father. Normally, as his only son, he should've been the one to take care of his father's funeral. But considering their current circumstances, he was not able to do that.

He heard that someone did take care of his father's remains, yet he still couldn't help feeling slightly bitter about that.

On that same note, he worried about His Highness. Like him, His Highness also had lost both of his parents to the Pyeonsu group. Yet His Highness couldn't even mourn his parents' deaths while he continued to travel around the country to learn the trades of the peddlers. Sometimes he wonder if His Highness had been pushing himself too hard...

The Crown Prince was out at night again. It worried him that the young prince haven't been able to sleep well despite how hard he had been working in the day. He's worried that His Highness would fall ill if this continued. It hasn't really been that long since the Crown Prince had woken up from his fall and Chungwoon worried that it affected the young prince's health.

While he didn't think that the Crown Prince was THAT frail a person, His Highness did recently face a life-threatening injury and almost died. And he had an important responsibility to keep His Highness safe.

Chungwoon took a few careful glances around before coming out to sit beside the Crown Prince.

Seon glanced up and gave a weak smile as he noticed Chungwoon approaching him. Somehow the very fact that he still had Chungwoon by his side sets his mind at ease.

"You do not ask your bodyguard to help you. You tell him that you will go on your way and ask him to protect you."

He had known Chungwoon for almost all of his life. Almost as long as Cheonsu had, serving him by his side. To him, Chungwoon was more like an overprotective older brother than just a bodyguard or a training instructor.

"Your Highness, why are you still awake?"

Seon just shrugged at the man. "I'm just not sleepy."

"Still, you need to rest properly."

He snorted at the man. Honestly, Chungwoon does nag a lot. Yet, even just this small thing was precious. He had lost so many things at once but at least there were still parts of his old life that remained. For that, he was very grateful to have Chungwoon by his side.

"Are you... alright, Your Highness?"

Seon turned his glance towards Chungwoon as he frowned at the man. "What do you mean, Chungwoon?"

"Your Highness, you... because of our circumstances with the Pyeonsu group... even when you're supposed to be in mourning right now, even when everyone at the palace and the other officials were donned in white, you could not do that."

Seon just stared blankly at the older man. And he thought that no one could've noticed that he had been feeling that way for a while. At least, that's what he thought. His master and the other peddlers didn't seem to be aware of it anyway. Seon just shrugged.

"You're right, Chungwoon. Of course, how could I be fine... with how things were right now?"

Chungwoon glanced again towards the Crown Prince as he listened patiently at the young prince telling him how he felt after seeing the widow who had just lost her husband due to an accident... and how he couldn't help wanting to help the widow. As he continued to lend an ear to his young master, he couldn't help feeling proud of him.

Of course, since the Crown Prince was unable to perform the funeral rites for his parents as well as not being able to mourn their deaths properly... the young prince would have certainly understood the pain felt by that widow he encountered earlier. It would've made sense for the young prince to want to help the widow as much as he possibly could. That's very like his young master to do just that.

Chungwoon chuckled to himself. Perhaps he had been worried for no reason.

The Crown Prince's head started lolling to his side as Chungwoon hastily caught his body before he could fall onto the floor. Finally, his young master had fallen asleep. Chungwoon gently placed the sleeping prince onto his lap as he stood guard over his young master.
