------------------------------------------------------------

"This is the best-tasting soba in the world!"

Sara had laughed as she always did whenever he said this very same statement. The soba shop owner too... of course. And he had shown them the most enthusiastic smile as he always did...

But as soon as those two people averted their eyes from him, Keiwa's smile faltered.

"—you're better off forgetting all about me..."

Keiwa frowned for a brief moment.

Wait... what was that? Forget about what?

Had he somehow... forgotten about something? That's not good... especially if it was something done against his will!

"—better off forgetting—"

For some absolutely good reason somehow, Keiwa found himself getting really angry the more he simmered on it. Who was it that dared to tell him that he's better off—wait, come again? Who dared tell him off that he's better off forgetting everything about him?

SO RUDE!

The more he was being told to forget the more he refused to do exactly that! The more someone tried to tell him to forget the more he'll make it a point to remember.

Just you wait!

"This is the world you lived in, so make sure that you find your own happiness..."

"You're better off forgetting all about me..."

He almost got it this time... he could finally recall the exact words that kept haunting his mind. He just needed to pinpoint the right kind of voice who spoke all those words in the past... and he needed to form an image in his head. Surely as soon as he could do that, something should happen...!

"—make sure you find your own happiness..."

Keiwa frowned again. He was so sure that there was something more to those lines than just random statements. So... what was it? Who was it that said all those words to him?

He didn’t want to forget, oh dear... please let him remember! He made a promise that he needed to keep!

"—make sure... find your own happiness..."

My own happiness? What's that supposed to mean anyway?

What was it... that made me happy? Do I even know... what was it that made me happy?

"Don't sell yourself too short... Tycoon..."

He let out a surprised gasp as something from the back of his mind suddenly was unlocked.

"Make sure you find your own happiness..."

Without warning, Keiwa felt tears start pooling from inside his eyes and leaking down his cheeks.

His own happiness?

Then...

"Shouldn't that... also include you? Ace?

It was as if he had been drowning inside a neverending sea of forgetfulness. He had been gasping for air, desperate to keep himself afloat... and not let himself succumb...

And then finally... as soon as he was able to grasp on that one lifeline... as soon as he was able to grasp on that most important name...!
He was finally able to breathe.

"Keiwa! Are you okay?"

Keiwa glanced up to see his sister looking at him in alarm... he had been sitting on the floor, legs splayed out—yet he had no recollection of how he ended up collapsing onto the floor.

A piece of memory (?) passed through his mind...

[I wished for Keiwa to always be happy and healthy]

He smiled suddenly... as Keiwa pulled his sister into an embrace.

"Thank you... Big Sis!"

Sara blinked at him in complete confusion before helping him stand up and turn back towards their table. She called up for the shop owner so that she could make a payment for the food they had partaken in earlier.

Keiwa just let out a sigh of relief before looking down at his own right hand. His right hand was still clenched into a fist, and he could feel that the object that he was holding onto was still inside his fist. Still very solid.

He slowly opened up his hand before a true smile finally crept up to his face.

Inside the palm of his hand, there was a single object. It was small and cylindrical... and green and... adorned with that familiar tanuki insignia.

It was his own Core ID. His Tycoon Core ID.

Keiwa clasped the Core ID again before placing it over his heart.

Thank goodness... he got this back!

So now he only needed to keep on wishing and believe...

Ace blinked. How did he end up in this courtyard suddenly? Hasn't he been... standing in front of his own shrine... just moments earlier? So how?

"—Ah! Excuse me..."

A young woman just bowed at him before hastily walking away in a different direction. Ace absentmindedly acknowledged her before noticing that something was odd.

Wait... she could see him?

Ace turned around towards his surroundings before he started to slowly recognise the location where he was standing at this very moment. He started to look around frantically—before his eyes were drawn towards the back of someone sitting on a table nearby, all alone. And for some reason the sight of the person made him feel a lot of things inside of his heart.

He walked closer...

To be fair, he didn't know what was it he was supposed to expect before he saw Keiwa taking out his Core ID and staring at it fondly. He didn't even know how Keiwa managed to recover that one piece of object... because he definitely hadn't intended to let Keiwa still keep it.
"Right... let's get back to it!"

And just as he tried to figure out what was actually going on... he was suddenly reminded how a single gold coin always ended up finding its way towards him. Always making sure that he remembered.

Had Keiwa somehow... managed to achieve something similar to what he used to do back then?

Right away Ace crept even closer towards Keiwa, gently wrapping his arms around the man's waist with all of his pent-up longing...

"Aren't you a very stubborn one?"

He had Keiwa backed into a corner at the back alley where no one could try to spot or interrupt their exchange. And Keiwa had dropped the bag he was carrying as Ace had the other man pinned against the wall. Keiwa snorted at him.

"Well, why won't I be... when someone tried to make me forget something that I shouldn't be forgetting? I made a promise to you... There's no way that I can just throw all of that away!"

Ace flashed an amused grin at him, closing the gap between him and Keiwa and kissed him deeply. And Keiwa didn't hide how much the other had also craved and missed his touch.

How did this Tanuki end up always outsmarting him when he least expected it?

"Because I'm a Tanuki, you idiot Fox," said Keiwa suddenly, as if the man could hear the thoughts running around his mind earlier, "Because we Tanuki also can be quite the trickster."

And then Keiwa pulled him back into another kiss and wrapped their arms around him so that their bodies were pressed together.

"We'll always be together... I'll make sure to keep it that way."
