Death Note: Light Up the New World

So my friend told me last week about the launching of the movie as well as asking for ppl to go there in cosplay. Initially wasn't planning to join... but I guess I ended up coming anyway. And I'm not regretting the decision.

So... on 22 Sept, Shin Godzilla was officially released in Malaysia. So naturally, being a toku-fan as well as quite an avid kaijuu fan; I just had to watch and support the movie. XD

So, last weekend I went on a bit of movie binge for the 2016 Japan Film Festival (JFF). The random amount of freebies I get was astounding! End up watching Chihayafuru (both parts) as well as Creepy and Bakuman. The rest of this post might be spoilery a bit.

Went to watch Jurassic World. Feeling like I just walked out of a movie called Godzilla World, instead.

Though, to be honest? I’m not saying that the movie is bad. It’s good. Very. I have feels over the Raptors and T-Rex, okay? Also, like how the trailers for JW do appear to reference the stuff on the original movie; the actual movie also do have lotsa references from the original Jurassic Park movie.

So today I ended up watching the Flu, since the JFF movie I wanted to watch was sold out and I can't afford taking the much later slot.

First thing first, if you've read the interview where Jang Hyuk talked about the movie and his role being very emotional? YES, it really was. It's very emotional and struck you to the core to the point by the end of the movie, my whole body shook with tense emotion.

So yeah, what follows after this is my thoughts and review of the movie. And I don't think people should mind any spoilers mentioned here. Since no amount of spoilers could ever spoiled your experience while watching this movie. There's a lot of message about humanity... that you just can't help but be saddened. Even if this movie was fictional and not based on real outbreak, it gave you an insight on how bad it could have happened.

So I watched PIECE. Kinda nice to watch... pity no one had subbed it in English yet.

So... I watched Pacific Rim. Most of it anyway since I sorta missed the intro a bit.

I see the refs with the tokusatsu fandom yeah. And by now, half my memory of the movie have faded so I shall just... mention my thoughts that I still remember.

Been wanting to post about this for a while.

Watched the Gyakuten Saiban movie... and it's fun. There were some parts that had been changed to fit the movie, but I don't think it should matter much. The minor details. You can always replay the original games~

Today I went movie-watching... with sisters and friends. Best things to do... watching stuffs with friends, regardless if you're doing at home or cinemas or somewhere. Nicer if you had on similar fandom that you can all understand some of the subtle jokes. And the best thing that we had done today... seeing that what we literally booked the whole hall for watching Avengers. How cool is that? Good thing about that, if we unthinkingly reacted loudly while watching, you don't have to be so conscious that someone might just shoosh you or something. I mean right.... not everyone can just stone for a few hours watching a movie without making a sound. Especially when said movies are so exciting to watch.

Unless of course you're watching a serious movie or documentaries. I mean... it was quite strange when no one made a sound at a intended funny scene, even inside cinema. I mean... if you're reacting to the movie content I don't see why anyone would be so offended about it. Unless you're secretly trying to record the movies and sell them as bootleg copies. THEN yo have reason to be annoyed. Or, if you were talking odd unrelated things during the screening and/or physically distracting other people to enjoy the movie.

So, that's why I love today's outing~

Don't think there was any actual spoilers worth worrying about, just the barest hints tho. )

That aside, being spontaneous and grabbed Hollow Earth the moment I've set my eyes on it. */clenches fist. BARROWMAAAAAAAAAAAAN!* Yeah, partially buying the book because of John... wanna see how his (and his sister's) writing was like. Plus, the plot was similar to something I've always had in my mind for my NaNo muse all these years but never put down to words. Maybe someday I would actually go back to that muse.

Heh... took me long enough to actually watch this proper. Needed a lot of motivation to go see this. Or maaaybe, I'm waiting for the whole things to finish before I start. XD. But this really took me by surprise. TUTI is playing Inspector Takagi? Waiii??? If I knew this I would have gone watching this from the very beginning! XD. Then again, this reminds me I need to watch the rest of Joker.

Today went to watch one of the movies from the Japanese Film Festival 2011. Was lucky I actually double check the schedules since it seems, they don't show all of the movies at each GSC cinemas that took part in the screenings at the same time in each cinemas, but allocate certain days and certain set movies to each of the cinemas. So on certain days/time and certain movies, you may have to go to different venues to watch it.

Lucky too seeing that just as we (sister and I) went to buy tickets, we only left to choose seats from only 4 free seats. o_O Felt so dejavu. I think Mebius movie last time also was like that.

So what movie we watched?

“Second Chance” セカンドバージン

They had managed to overcome various obstacles, and the two of them had started living together, but then one day Koh just suddenly disappears from Rui's life. Five years later, Rui is in Malaysia for a business trip, and as if by destiny she meets Koh once again. But then Koh is shot before her very eyes! But a fleet of well-trained COCKROACH spies!!!!????? Okay that made infiltrating certain places kinda cool but.... XE

Cool pun on the Mole tho. But still.... ROACHES????

Today I went for Black Swan.... for FREE. XD. Because my sis had won some free pass... and watching it with younger sis.

Well... overall, I had to agree that it was a good movie. Slightly bit squicky to me... but the ballet and stuffs are very well done. But I definitely will not consider getting the movie... considering the amount of NC17 scenes, especially with kids at home. Allusion to sex, masturbation, drug, bad language, violence/self-mutilating scenes... also the fact the focus character getting deeper into having horrible almost real delusion that borders into insanity, I guess I can't take it much. The girl's obsession into making--no, perfecting her ballet performance to the extent that she would hurt herself and others, having some sort of bi-polar? personality... I guess you can say, I was a bit uncomfortable watching it.

Later on, went to try this Pizza in a cone shop. So nais... never thought people would be thinking of doing it. So nais~~~~ *______*

And I went looking to the DVD shop... and got myself that Kamen Rider Black Boxset. Well, this should cheer me up for a while~

“And the secret that I have to tell you is that we are not nearly so dumb as we have always thought. Indeed, we each have a brain.”

Haha~ Nice line from a puffin, where... in the Gahoole series were portrayed to be less intelligent compared to the owls aside from their abilities to swim and fish skilfully in the icy regions of the Northern Kingdoms. Any other birds that was grouped to be less intelligent was seagulls. Then again, a lot of other fantasy/animal stories drew seagulls in that similar light~

Finally finished all fifteen books, and I have to say it's an amazing journey in a world written by Kathryn Lasky.

Honestly speaking, if you think the animated movie of the Guardians of Ga'hoole: Legends of the Guardians was amazing, you'll have an even bigger surprise once you started on the books. The movie, was llke an alternate universe to the adventures of Soren, Gylfie and his two friend, Twilight and Digger; later known as The Band, throughout the Hoolian world as they fought against the Tytonic Union of the Pure Ones. But nothing can compare with the books.

Hey... the most ridiculous of ideas to me would still remain to be Zearth. Toothbrush as a henshin device!~ Cards, USB memories, medals/coins, etc... are not that bad. XD (Cute tho XDDD)

And well... another fandom that got my this month was the Guardians of Ga'hoole. You know... it's always the series that I didn't tried to convince myself to like that always end up with me liking it. See Decade and OOO. And this also because I had nother else to watch but the movie because that time was bunking at my sister's college apartment the night before CF day 1, though unplanned; was actually quite convenient. Since day one was the day I had to bring more stuff along...

Owls to the sky~~ )

Haa~ back to reading Book 4~
